Description:
The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is responsible for surgically scrubbing in and assisting with equipment.
They assist with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures as a secondary assignment.
They prepare the room and equipment, transport, and monitor patients.
The technician may handle medications in accordance with their responsibilities.
Essential functions of the role include:
Assisting Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, and diagnostic and interventional therapies.
Preparing and maintaining sterile fields for lab procedures.
Printing films and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases.
Circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on appropriate forms.
Monitoring patient ECG and vital signs while in the Catheterization Lab.
Notifying Physician of any variances and providing emergency procedures as needed.
Performing pre- and post-procedure care.
Monitoring and orienting patients for catheterization procedures.
Answering related questions to ensure patient comfort.
Transporting patients to and from the procedural area.
Communicating relevant medical information to physicians and other staff through required documentation.
Entering data into the computer and calculating catheterization data, gradients, LV grams, and cardiac outputs.
Following national and state radiation protection regulations for patients and staff.
Maintaining inventory of procedure room supplies and ensuring rooms are adequately stocked and safe to use.
Key success factors include:
One year of clinical experience preferred.
Ability to use basic office equipment and demonstrate computer literacy.
Ability to multi-task and employ self-led problem-solving skills.
Demonstrating precision and flexibility in work.
Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular principles, instrumentation, and techniques.
Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
