Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift observation unit position requiring cardiac telemetry experience and prior travel assignment history.

Details

• Work in an Observation Unit within a hospital setting managing chest pain rule-out patients
• Support the Emergency Department by holding patients when the hospital census is full
• Patient population includes a significant number of cardiac patients requiring telemetry monitoring
• Maintain a 1:5 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
• 13-week assignment length
• No floating to other units or affiliate hospitals unless otherwise agreed upon during interview or offer
• Cerner charting system experience preferred

Requirements

• Active RN license (Montana or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty required
• Level II Trauma experience required; Level I Trauma experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• At least one prior travel contract required; first-time travelers will not be considered for this float unit
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (without titration) preferred
• Wound care and isolation precaution/PPE knowledge required
• References required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct care to chest pain rule-out and cardiac observation patients
• Support ED overflow by holding patients as needed
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility, as local candidates are not accepted for this position
• Former permanent employees must have a 2-year break in service before eligibility
• Candidates with prior license or background check issues may be considered on a case-by-case basis
• Available start date and RTO must be provided at the time of consideration
