Description

American Traveler is seeking a Telemetry RN for a day shift position at an acute care hospital in Alexandria, LA, requiring at least 1 year of telemetry or related nursing experience and active BLS and ACLS certifications.

Details

  • Acute Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
  • Patient population includes MI, CHF, arrhythmias, PVD, and med/surg overflow
  • Cardiac drip management is performed; nitrate drips are not used
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1–6:1 depending on staffing
  • Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required as needed
  • No on-call requirement
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact state currently in hand
  • Current BLS certification from the AHA required
  • Current ACLS certification from the AHA required
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in telemetry or a related nursing specialty
  • US Social Security Number required for consideration
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • Current primary source license verification (Nursys) required for consideration
  • Copies of all active certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
  • Administers medications and treatments per protocol and monitors for side-effects and treatment effectiveness
  • Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
  • Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided; assesses and addresses patient and family education needs
  • All newly hired experienced RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
  • New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member with competency validation completed at the bedside
  • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates; local candidates are not accepted unless the position explicitly states otherwise
  • Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility
  • BSN preferred but not required
