Description
American Traveler is seeking a Telemetry RN for a day shift position at an acute care hospital in Alexandria, LA, requiring at least 1 year of telemetry or related nursing experience and active BLS and ACLS certifications.
Details
- Acute Telemetry unit in a hospital setting
- Patient population includes MI, CHF, arrhythmias, PVD, and med/surg overflow
- Cardiac drip management is performed; nitrate drips are not used
- Nurse-to-patient ratio of 5:1–6:1 depending on staffing
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Every other weekend required
- Floating required as needed
- No on-call requirement
- 13-week contract
Requirements
- Active RN license in Louisiana or a compact state currently in hand
- Current BLS certification from the AHA required
- Current ACLS certification from the AHA required
- Minimum 1 year of experience in telemetry or a related nursing specialty
- US Social Security Number required for consideration
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Current primary source license verification (Nursys) required for consideration
- Copies of all active certifications required for consideration
Additional Information
- Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
- Administers medications and treatments per protocol and monitors for side-effects and treatment effectiveness
- Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided; assesses and addresses patient and family education needs
- All newly hired experienced RNs must complete New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days
- New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member with competency validation completed at the bedside
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for travel rates; local candidates are not accepted unless the position explicitly states otherwise
- Temp-to-perm conversion is a possibility
- BSN preferred but not required
