Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry/PCU position requiring 3 years of experience and MD or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Work in the Telemetry/PCU unit (4G) of a hospital setting
  • Care for adult and geriatric patients requiring cardiac monitoring and closer observation than typical Medical-Surgical units
  • High volume diagnoses include CHF, NSTEMI, pre-cardiac catheterization, stroke, pulmonary disorders, diabetes, multi-system diseases, and post-surgical patients
  • PCU beds maintain 1:4 patient ratios
  • Telemetry patients typically maintain 1:5 ratios, up to a maximum of 1:6
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Option for 3x12 or 4x12 scheduling, with overtime billed after 48 hours on 4x12 schedule
  • Rotating holidays and weekends required
  • Floating required within scope
  • Block scheduling cannot be accommodated
  • Meditech charting system experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active RN license (MD or compact) required in hand at time of consideration
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
  • CMSRN and PCCN certifications preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of RN experience required
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Teaching hospital and LTAC experience preferred
  • Proof of residency required, matching candidate's licensure state

Additional Information

  • Provide cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response including Rapid Response/Code team activation
  • Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration required)
  • Perform IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, and PICC line management
  • Manage respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
  • Smoke-free facility

  • RTO requests reviewed and approved on a per-case basis
  • Located approximately one hour from both Baltimore and Washington DC, offering suburban living with nearby city access, mountain views, dining, shopping, parks, and historic sites
