Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Telemetry RN with pre-cardiac cath and port management skills for a day shift assignment requiring prior travel experience.

Details

• Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Supports ED boarders awaiting inpatient beds across the system
• May float to observation units, MS/Tele, and Neuro Stepdown units as needed
• May float between two campus locations as needed
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:30)
• Weekend rotation includes 2 Saturdays and 2 Sundays within a 6-week period, along with 3 Mondays and 3 Fridays
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active KY or compact RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 1.5 years of telemetry experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Experience with pre-cardiac cath care and port accessing/management required
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, ABG interpretation, oxygen administration, and tracheostomy care
• Cardiac monitoring skills required including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, and wound care/wound vac management required

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry-level nursing care to a cardiac, neurological, and general medical-surgical patient population
• No RTO permitted between 12/15/2026 and 1/5/2027
• Strict no-call policy in place
• COVID vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only) along with flu vaccination
• Navy blue scrubs required with no visible agency or brand logos
• No nose rings or gauged earrings permitted; natural fingernails required for direct patient care, polish acceptable
• Fingernails must be less than 1/4 inch in length
• No on-site cafeteria, though refrigerator and microwave are available
• Free parking available in unrestricted spaces
• Local candidates within 75 miles accepted at a reduced rate
• Previous full-time, part-time, or per diem staff must be separated for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates who have applied for a permanent role with the health system within the past 6 months are not eligible
