Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Telemetry/Step-Down position requiring MO or compact licensure and prior telemetry nursing experience.

Details

• Work in the Telemetry unit of a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital and Level I Trauma Center
• Cardiac telemetry and step-down patient population
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Performs EKG monitoring and manages cardiac drips
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within service line to meet facility needs
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active MO or compact RN license required (compact license must match permanent residence)
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS
• Minimum 2 years of telemetry nursing experience required (dedicated PCU experience not required if other qualifications are met)
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and central/peripheral line care
• Experience with blood product administration and PICC line management
• Respiratory skills including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and oxygen administration
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with pacemakers and pre/post cardiac catheterization care
• Epic EMR charting experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide telemetry-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and cardiac drip administration
• Perform wound care, IV insulin protocols, and manage patients with substance withdrawal
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius as no local candidates are accepted
• Standard travelers may stay for up to an 18-month period, followed by a required 3-month break in service
• Permanent BJC or Saint Luke's employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
• Contract length is firm at 13 weeks
