Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

This position provides essential nursing care on a high acuity telemetry unit focused on cardiac patients, including those requiring post-stroke rehabilitation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients on a telemetry unit.
• Monitor cardiac telemetry and interpret rhythm strips.
• Provide care for post-CVA patients and those with related conditions such as CHF and respiratory failure.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams, including hospitalists available 24/7.
• Administer non-titratable drips, including Cardizem and Heparin.
• Participate in unit workflow and assist with patient care duties as needed.
• Respond to standby requests within 30 minutes and comply with cancellation policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in telemetry, stepdown, or PCU settings.
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Must be stroke certified and possess experience caring for stroke patients.
• Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including weekends (2 per 4 weeks) and holidays as needed.
• Must be able to prioritize travel assignments and adhere to a no secondary employment policy during the assignment.
• Knowledge of Cerner EMR is preferred; candidates with no Cerner experience will undergo additional orientation.

Unit Information

• 34 beds available on the telemetry unit.
• Patient ratios are typically 1:4.
• Charge nurses are present each shift and generally do not take on patient loads.
• Expected to provide primary nursing care in the absence of nurse aides.
• No IV team is available; respiratory therapy and pharmacy services are accessible 24/7.
