Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview

This is a float pool position requiring flexibility to work at multiple locations within the region. The Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) will provide high-quality care in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The role demands a compassionate approach and the ability to manage a variety of patient situations effectively.

Shift Details

• Shift: Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Information

As a Telemetry Registered Nurse, you will function within the following units:

• Telemetry Unit
  • Number of Beds: 31
  • Patient Ratios: 1 to 4
  • Common Patient Diagnoses: High acuity patients, including pneumonia, end-stage renal disease, post-cath lab patients, respiratory distress, CHF, and COPD.
• Combo of Telemetry, Medsurg, and DOU Unit
  • Number of Beds: 50
  • Patient Ratios: 1 to 5 for Medsurg, 1 to 4 for Telemetry, 1 to 3 for DOU
  • Common Patient Diagnoses: Post-surgical, orthopedic, and cardiac patients.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in accordance with established protocols and patient care plans.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret telemetry readings.
• Administer IV medications and drips (non-titrating) as required.
• Participate in team collaboration to ensure effective patient management.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including hospitalists or intensivists available for consultation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a telemetry setting.
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS.
• Experience with drips; experience with chest tubes is preferred.
• Ability to read telemetry strips is essential.
• Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to handle complex patient care situations.
• Commitment to compassionate care and positive patient interaction.

Additional Information

• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts within a 4-week schedule.
• Holidays: One major holiday and one minor holiday per year.
• Uniform Scrub Color: Navy.
• Equipment: Utilize Phillips telemetry monitors; monitor tech is available for assistance.
• Orientation: Orientation includes one shift on the home unit and additional shifts in other units.
