Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med/Surg RN for a night shift Trauma & General Surgery Stepdown unit requiring Level 1 trauma and Epic experience.

Details

• Acute care Trauma & General Surgery Inpatient Stepdown/Med-Surg unit, also a nationally recognized Comprehensive Bariatric Surgery Center
• 30-bed unit with 12 floor beds and 18 stepdown beds
• Patient ratios of 1:6 for floor patients and 1:3 for stepdown patients
• Common diagnoses include multi-trauma, TBI, fractures, general and bariatric surgery, and complex spinal cord injuries
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Night shift schedule, 7pm-7:30am, working weekend nights (Fri/Sat/Sun or Sat/Sun/Mon)
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
• Floating to like units (floor/stepdown) is required
• Charge nurse and house supervisor available 24/7
• RT support available 24/7 for stable/chronic vent patients
• Monitor techs available for telemetry, though RN must be able to read strips

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Level 1 trauma center experience required
• 1:6 ratio experience required
• Experience with complex wound care, drains, devices, traumatic injuries, chest tubes, respiratory support, TBIs, and complex spinal cord injuries required

Additional Information

• Work collaboratively with care management, surgical and medical services, rehabilitation services, and perioperative services
• Provide care for a variety of complex medical and surgical conditions in a high-impact, fast-paced environment
• Holiday coverage required as part of the standard staff holiday schedule
• Scrub color required is royal blue
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be eligible for the position
• Candidates who previously worked at any WVU Medicine location must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for longer than a year without taking a 2-year break, with cumulative experience applying
