Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Healthcare Specialty: Imaging/Ultrasound Duration: 13 weeks Shift: NOC Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 3 years experience License: RDMS or RVT, BLS (AHA Only) Certifications: None specified Must-Have: Experience in Level I Trauma and Level IV NICU facilities Description: The Ultrasound Technologist performs ultrasound procedures under the supervision of a Radiologist or physician. They operate in an ambulatory and/or hospital environment as requested by a physician or other licensed provider. Procedures are performed for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. They ensure high-quality imaging procedures are conducted timely. Production and quality of imaging are maintained by following established standards and procedures. Utilizes AIDET when communicating with patients to ensure correct exams are performed. Establishes rapport with patients and others. Instructs patients and their families regarding the tests to be performed. Assesses the patient's ability to tolerate the exam. Prepares patients and the area for procedures by positioning patients and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors. Protects patients and team members by adhering to safety requirements and infection-control protocols. Maintains cleanliness and organization of the work area. Works with engineers and physicists to ensure operational capabilities of equipment. Reports issues to management or the appropriate department. Assists in maintaining supplies inventory. Screens individuals entering the department according to approved policies and procedures. Obtains and verifies all relevant documentation such as requisitions and patient history. Maintains medical imaging records in accordance with department policies and standards for interpretation in a timely manner. The technologist is expected to adhere to policies, procedures, and workflows related to imaging systems. They must perform procedures timely, accurately, and in compliance with established standards. Work requires maintaining a calm and helpful attitude under stress. Administration of first aid and use of emergency cart may be required. Customer satisfaction is prioritized by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Maintains current knowledge and continued education on skills appropriate for various age groups. Serves as a trainer for new team members and on new services and initiatives.
