Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Ultrasound Tech/Sonographer Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: 09:00 - 19:30 Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum 1 year of ultrasound scanning experience preferred License: State Licensure required if in New Mexico Certifications: Must have one of the following within 1 year of hire: - Sonography (S) by ARRT - Abdomen (AB) RDMS by ARDMS - Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN) RDMS by ARDMS Must prefer one of the following: - Vascular Sonography (VS) by ARRT - Breast Sonography (BS) by ARRT - Breast (BR) RDMS by ARDMS - Adult Echocardiography (AE) RDCS by ARDMS - Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) by ARDMS - BLS required Description: The Ultrasound Technologist will perform a wide variety of routine and advanced imaging procedures. They will provide support for other imaging technologists as needed. This role will help facilitate smooth and efficient patient flow. The Ultrasound Technologist must handle the movement, set-up, and operation of medical ultrasound equipment. Flexibility is required to work other shifts and locations as needed or required. The technologist must troubleshoot basic maintenance and resolve issues related to image processing and the image archiving system. There is an expectation to participate in ongoing education, safety, and technical advances within their scope of licensure. The technologist will adhere to and maintain the expected imaging competencies as outlined by management. Providing meaningful assistance to radiologists and referring physicians will promote exceptional physician satisfaction. They will perform duties in a manner that protects patient confidentiality and only disclose confidential information necessary for the performance of assigned job duties. Each assigned patient assessment, treatment, and care method must accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, age-specific, and developmental needs of each patient served. Ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards of care is mandatory as deemed appropriate by regulatory entities. The technologist will perform examinations and procedures as needed to assist in patient throughput within the scope of licensure, certification, and documented competencies. Flexibility to work other shifts and at different locations as needed is required. The technologist will ensure completed exams are scanned and stored correctly in the PACS. They must be able to follow PACS downtime procedures as a PACS Superuser and escalate any problems or issues to the PACS administrator as needed. Troubleshooting and reporting any equipment malfunctions to the Director or Manager is essential, along with appropriate follow-up. Other duties may be assigned as required.
