Job Title: Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Ultrasound Technologist Specialty: Breast Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Experience: 2 years preferred License: Must be registered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in Breast Specialty. Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) Must-Have: - One or more years of experience in ultrasound examinations. - Ability to see and read information, labels, and assess patient needs. - Strong verbal communication skills. - Manual dexterity to manipulate equipment with precision. - Ability to lift, bend, and carry supplies. - Ability to stand for extended periods. Description: The Ultrasound Technologist provides excellent customer service by performing ultrasound examinations under the direction of a physician. The primary goal is to identify abnormalities leading to patient diagnosis. Maintains certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and modality-specific competency. Ensures proper patient identification and order verification. Prepares patients for exams following department protocols. Performs exams and reviews images for quality, clarity, and accuracy. Completes studies within acceptable time limits while ensuring patient care and quality. Assists and instructs students and other technicians in exam protocols and procedures. Provides appropriate patient education, ensuring comfort and addressing concerns. Practices appropriate infection control and sterile techniques. Operates equipment and related information systems effectively to ensure quality images. Keeps accurate records of patient information and procedures performed. Follows protocols for medical necessity, coding, charging, and reporting equipment failures. Demonstrates anatomical knowledge and applies imaging techniques. Prioritizes tasks effectively and demonstrates effective communication. Works independently and collaboratively in a team setting. Responds to emergency situations and evaluates images as needed.
