Job Title: Cardiac Ultrasound Technologist Profession: Clinical Professional Specialty: Cardiac Ultrasound Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Sunday - Thursday Hours per Shift: 9:00 AM - 6:30 PM Experience: Six months of related experience, 2-3 years preferred with at least 1 year of previous traveler experience License: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) OR Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Ability to work independently Ability to use critical thinking skills Ability to effectively communicate with surgeons, physicians, and other healthcare staff regarding cardiac ultrasound results Ability to serve in on-call rotation after regular business hours Description: Responsible for performing diagnostic cardiac or vascular ultrasound. Provides measurements and accurate images of cardiac structures for diagnosis. Provides immediate feedback with preliminary reports of critical results to healthcare staff. Assists the physician with studies and aids them during complex procedures to mitigate risks. Demonstrates correct technique, efficiency, and judgment in advanced cardiac and/or peripheral vascular procedures. Performs adult and/or pediatric cardiac ultrasound procedures including TEE and stress echo. Operates necessary equipment to obtain optimal diagnostic recordings. Exercises appropriate judgment in notifying abnormal results to the reading physician. Documents all procedures accurately according to departmental policy. Collaborates in the maintenance of departmental efficiency. Anticipates needs for equipment and supplies. Utilizes resources wisely to assist in cost containment. Supports unit/hospital goals through quality assurance and educational activities. Maintains current competency and registry in the specialty practices. Participates in departmental quality assurance process and accreditation process. Complies with departmental and hospital policies. Maintains a clean environment and practices infection control. Promotes safety for patients, visitors, and personnel. Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee, physician, and corporate information. Collaborates effectively with all members of the healthcare team. Exhibits independent judgment in decision making. Coordinates activities without direct supervision. Works directly with patients and healthcare professionals. Engages frequently with individuals at the director level or above.
