Description

American Traveler is hiring a Utilization Management RN for a fully remote role requiring 2 years of acute care UM experience and proficiency with InterQual/MCG.

Details

• Fully remote position within a centralized Utilization Management department
• Covers centralized acute admission utilization review across 13 acute care and critical access hospitals
• Schedule runs 08:30-17:00
• Uses Cerner EMR with Careport (Allscripts)
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active RN license (Multistate or TX) required
• Current BLS certification (AHA) required
• Minimum 2 years of acute care utilization management experience or equivalent required
• Proficiency with InterQual/MCG and CMS regulations required
• Nursys verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Current license and primary source verification required within 30 days prior to start
• Experience with payor portals, managed Medicare/Medicaid insurers, and Google Workspace preferred
• Remote work experience preferred
• Must be proficient and adaptable with multiple technologies simultaneously

Additional Information

• Reviews admissions and service requests for prospective, concurrent, and retrospective medical necessity and reimbursement compliance
• Provides case management and consultation for complex cases
• Assists staff with coding, medical records documentation, precertification, reimbursement, and claim denials/appeals
• Assesses and coordinates discharge planning needs with the healthcare team
• May prepare statistical analysis and utilization review reports
• Oversees compliance with federally mandated and third-party payer utilization management rules
• Requires critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a stressful environment
• Radius rule applies allowing local candidates at a reduced rate, with mileage varying by state
