Job Title

Echo / Vascular Ultrasound Technologist

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations including vascular and echocardiography studies on adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under the supervision of the ultrasound supervisor.
  • Obtain, review, and correlate pertinent patient history and clinical data to facilitate optimal diagnostic results; provide interpreting physicians with oral or written summaries of technical findings.
  • Acquire, assess, and interpret ultrasound images and related data, exercising discretion and judgment throughout the examination process.
  • Operate and maintain PACS and Radiology Information Systems, including logging patient information, retrieving data, annotating images, and routing images to appropriate destinations.
  • Perform quality assurance, infection control, and equipment maintenance activities including inspection for electrical and mechanical hazards, acoustic testing, and documentation of equipment performance.
  • Provide basic patient care and comfort, explain procedures to patients and families, instruct on positioning and breathing techniques, and transport patients to and from the ultrasound department as needed.
Required Qualifications
  • Must meet registry eligibility requirements through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
  • Ability to perform ultrasound examinations utilizing proper established procedures across all specialized areas of ultrasound.
  • Proficiency with PACS and Radiology Information Systems for documentation, charge entry, and image management.
  • Ability to identify life-threatening situations and carry out emergency care within the scope of practice.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations with commitment to protecting patient rights and privacy.
Preferred Experience / Skills
  • Minimum six months of hands-on experience performing ultrasound examinations.
  • Familiarity with on-call rotation scheduling and availability to respond in a timely manner when on call.
