Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in an acute-care setting.
• Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments and identify changes in patient condition.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, treatments, and other interventions according to provider orders and facility protocols.
• Monitor vital signs, laboratory results, patient symptoms, and response to treatment.
• Recognize clinical deterioration and promptly notify the appropriate healthcare provider.
• Maintain accurate, timely, and thorough documentation using the Cerner EMR.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatments, and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, nursing assistants, therapists, and other interdisciplinary team members.
• Safely delegate appropriate patient-care activities while maintaining accountability for nursing care.
• Prepare patients for admission, transfer, procedures, or discharge.
• Provide complete bedside and shift-to-shift handoff reports.
• Follow infection-control, medication-safety, fall-prevention, and other hospital safety standards.
• Participate in quality-improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with hospital policies.
• Float to other appropriate units as the first-to-float nurse when required.
• Maintain BLS certification and all required competencies throughout the assignment.

Requirements Active RN license eligible for submission. Previous acute-care nursing experience preferred. BLS certification required. Cerner EMR experience preferred. Strong patient assessment, clinical judgment, and critical-thinking skills. Ability to provide safe and effective nursing care in an acute-care setting. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to prioritize multiple patient-care needs in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work 12-hour day shifts, 7:00 AM–7:00 PM. Must work every other weekend (EOW). Must be willing to be first to float when staffing needs require. BSN is not required. Must be able to work 36 guaranteed hours per week. Must comply with hospital policies, procedures, and patient-safety standards.
