Job Title: Radiology Technologist Profession: Radiology Tech Specialty: N/A Duration: 18 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 24 Experience: 1-2 years preferred (preferably in orthopedics) License: New Jersey State License required Certifications: Must meet requirements for the National Registry and pass the examination Must-Have: - Completion of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology - Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements - Team player with strong communication skills Description: The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. This role performs essential job functions including: Producing diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients and providing immobilization devices. Selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs. Operating equipment as required for specific procedures. Restricting radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to provide non-exposure of radiation to unaffected parts of the patient. Performing portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms. Following operational procedures to identify patients' films with their name and x-ray number. Correctly marking films as to the side of the patient taken. Developing exposed x-ray films by processing methods available. Completing patient requisitions with technologist initials, date, number, and size of film. Maintaining an orderly x-ray room as directed by the head of the department. Preparing radiopaque contrast media and assisting physicians in administering radiopaque mixtures to patients. Performing administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instruction, film filing, maintenance of records, and reception of patients. Rendering services and assistance to all patients depending on their individual needs and abilities. Identifying the needs of the patient population served and modifying and delivering care specific to those needs. Adhering to standards identified in the organization's competencies. This position requires lifting a minimum of 5 lbs., pushing and pulling a minimum of 10 lbs., and standing for a minimum of 6 hours a day. The role also involves effective communication with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their appropriate developmental and educational level.
