Job Title: Radiologic Technologist I Profession: Radiology Tech Specialty: - Duration: 12 months Shift: 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in an acute care facility License: New Jersey State License Certifications: Must meet the requirements for the National Registry and pass the examination Must-Have: - Must be able to work independently in an emergency room and with trauma patients - Must have operating room experience - Experience with portable imaging and pediatrics Description: The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients, providing immobilization devices, and selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs. Selects and operates equipment required for specific procedures. Restricts the radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to provide non-exposure of radiation to unaffected parts of the patient. Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms. Follows operational procedures to identify patient films with name and x-ray number, correctly marking films to indicate the side of the patient taken. Develops exposed x-ray films by processing methods available. Completes patient requisitions with technologist initials, date, film number, and size. Maintains an orderly x-ray room as directed by the department head. Prepares radiopaque contrast media and assists the physician in administering these to patients. Performs administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patient instructions, film filing, maintenance of records, reception of patients, and other administrative tasks as required. Renders services and assistance to all patients depending on individual needs and abilities in moving, turning, and getting on and off the x-ray tables. Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands for a minimum of 6 hours a day. Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies care delivery specific to those needs, such as age, culture, and language. Communicates effectively with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at their developmental and educational levels. Adheres to organizational competencies and standards.
