Job Title: X-Ray Technologist Profession: Technician Specialty: X-Ray Duration: 9 months Shift: Monday to Friday Hours per Shift: 8 AM - 5 PM Experience: No experience required License: Client License Certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certified) Must-Have: Excellent organizational skills Description: The X-Ray Technologist operates or oversees the operation of radiologic and magnetic imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. Responsible for preparing the patient for radiological procedures and adhering to safety measures to ensure compliance with regulations and the safety of patients and staff. Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties and providing explanations of treatment while answering questions. Prepares patients for radiological procedures by positioning them, adjusting immobilization devices, and moving equipment into specified positions. Adjusts equipment controls to set exposure factors. Minimizes radiation exposure to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques. Uses beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors. Adheres to established infection control policies and procedures. Maintains production and quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures. Processes radiographs and observes radiographic results to make necessary adjustments. Documents patient care services by charting in patient and department records, including the completion and verification of exams. Ensures the operation of radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements. Follows manufacturer's instructions and troubleshoots malfunctions. Calls for repairs and maintains equipment inventories while evaluating new equipment and techniques. Maintains radiology supplies inventory and checks stock to determine inventory levels. Anticipates needed supplies to maintain operational efficiency. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by fulfilling regulatory requirements. Attends educational workshops and reviews professional publications. Establishes personal networks and participates in professional societies. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Completes yearly age-specific competency as required. Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
