Certifications: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT Certified) Must-Have: Excellent communication skills in a team environment Description: The X-Ray Technologist operates or oversees the operation of radiologic and imaging equipment to produce images of the body for diagnostic purposes. They are responsible for preparing the patient for radiological procedures and ensuring compliance with safety measures to protect patients and staff. Identifies patient service requirements by building rapport with patients and those involved in their care. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions. Prepares patients for radiological procedures by positioning them, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment, and setting exposure factors. Minimizes radiation exposure to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques and utilizing appropriate shielding. Adheres to established infection control policies and procedures. Maintains the quality of radiographs by following established standards and procedures, processing images, and making necessary adjustments. Documents patient care services by charting in patient records and verifying exams. Ensures the operation of radiology equipment through preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintaining inventory. Maintains the inventory of radiology supplies by checking stock levels and anticipating needs. Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and regulations. Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related tasks as needed. Completes yearly Age-Specific Competency. Engages in continual professional development by attending educational workshops, reviewing publications, and participating in professional societies.
