A steel fabrication and erection company is seeking an Project Manager to support large-scale, complex projects across the country. This role works directly with erection crews in the field, keeping materials, schedules, and communication on track between the job site and the office. It is a travel-heavy position for someone who thrives on-site and enjoys ownership over the day to day flow of a project.
Project Manager Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily with the erection foreman on materials, laydown logistics, and supply needs
- Set up and adjust delivery schedules with steel, joist, deck, and bolt suppliers
- Attend daily and weekly job site meetings with the erection crew
- Review incoming steel deliveries and resolve any missing or mis-fabricated pieces quickly
- Track and maintain a rolling punch list, ensuring inspection items are addressed promptly
- Monitor manpower needs and schedule progress to keep erection on pace
- Observe and enforce job site safety requirements, including OSHA standards
- Serve as the on-site point of contact and communicate professionally with contractors and other trades
- Participate in pre-planning meetings covering sequencing, scheduling, and site coordination
On-Site Project Manager Requirements:
- 3-5+ years of relevant project management or field supervision experience
- Prior steel industry experience at a GC or contractor strongly preferred
- Ability to travel full time to be onsite at projects nationally
