It’s not about flipping a switch; it’s about ensuring safety, efficiency, and reliability.  Our client, a nationally accredited Electrical Contractor, is seeking a motivated Traveling Electrical Journeyman for a role as Foreman/Superintendent to join our team in Phoenix, AZ.  While the main office is located in Phoenix the first project will likely be in a regional state.  The right candidate will have experience with at least 3+ Sub-Station projects to be considered qualified for the role.

This position can independently work lighting, power, and control systems within commercial and industrial facilities. They understand, interpret, and implement NFPA70 NEC and will work in multiple states over time. Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Must have Electrical Sub-Station experience, 3+ at a minimum, and be able to pass a Background Check.
  • Manage a crew of 6 - 35 journeymen and apprentices.
  • Daily task and production planning.
  • Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics, and electrical code specifications to determine quality layout of electrical equipment installations.
  • Test electrical equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
  • Maintain, repair, install and test switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair, electrical and low voltage control systems and other related devices.
  • Arrange and coordinate safety meetings.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to crew members.
  • Be the point of contact with the General Contractor's site Superintendent.
  • Supervise and train apprentices on the job, as required.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and also through reporting violations of policies, procedures, and guidelines to immediate supervisor.
  • Daily quality control and assurance program.
  • Daily safety inspections.
  • Controlling inventory on truck, jobsite, and in/out of stock.
  • Organize and maintain material lists for your crew.
  • Coordinates project specific company tool procurement and replacement.
  • Inspect tasks upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
  • Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures.
  • Respond to emergency calls as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Valid state Driver's License that permits you to practice as a Journeyman Electrician.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Observant and thorough.
  • An active listener with top-notch verbal and written communication skills.
  • OSHA 30 preferred.

Physical Requirements:
  • Physically fit and capable of carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently work on manlifts, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Working environment varies, depending on the type of job. Including, but not limited to natural ambient conditions, confined areas, ditches, or other uncomfortable places.
  • Operates construction equipment, including, forklifts, backhoes, and cargo trucks.
  • Work weeks are typically 50+ hours with project specific overtime, as needed.
  • Project specific travel may be required, with Per Diem offered depending on location.
