Position Overview
Super Steel is seeking experienced MIG Welders with strong fit-up skills to join a high-production fabrication environment. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in MIG welding, blueprint reading, and weld fit-up, with experience working on carbon steel, mild steel, and stainless steel components. Candidates with both short-circuit and pulse MIG welding experience are strongly preferred.
This role requires individuals who can independently interpret blueprints, perform layout and fit-up, and produce high-quality welds while maintaining productivity and safety standards.
Essential Responsibilities
Perform MIG welding using .035" wire with a 75/25 gas mixture
Utilize both short-circuit transfer and pulse transfer welding processes
Weld carbon steel, mild steel, stainless steel, and dissimilar metals
Use 309 wire when welding dissimilar materials
Complete weld fit-up from blueprints without direct supervision
Produce quality fillet and groove welds in accordance with AWS weld symbols and WPS requirements
Perform basic weld cleanup and remove spatter as needed
Work from engineering drawings, weld symbols, bills of materials, and assembly instructions
Build and fit assemblies using both fixtured and non-fixtured processes
Maintain quality standards while meeting production requirements
Safely operate jib cranes and pallet jacks as required
Required Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years of MIG welding and fabrication experience
Strong fit-up experience with the ability to build directly from prints
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and AWS weld symbols
Experience welding:- A36 carbon steel
Mild steel
Stainless steel
Experience with sheet, plate, and square/rectangular tubing
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Preferred Qualifications
Experience welding dissimilar metals, particularly stainless steel to mild steel
Pulse MIG welding experience
Vertical-up welding experience
Overhead welding experience
Structural welding background
Layout and fabrication experience in non-fixtured environments

Most welding will be performed in flat and horizontal positions; however, certain workstations require welders capable of performing vertical-up and overhead welding. Candidates should indicate their experience level with out-of-position welding.

Successful candidates must be capable of:
Producing clean, consistent welds
Maintaining dimensional accuracy
Working within tolerances ranging from .08" to .30"
Following WPS requirements and quality documentation
Completing accurate fit-up prior to welding
