With boutique hotel projects in high-profile LGBTQ+ destinations, Tryst needs reliable field professionals who can travel, adapt, and support safe, high-quality construction and renovation work across its growing hotel portfolio.
This Traveling Painter role supports interior and exterior painting, surface preparation, touch-ups, repairs, renovations, remodels, and new construction work across Tryst hotel locations in the U.S. You will perform hands-on painting tasks in active hospitality environments while working closely with field teams, contractors, supervisors, and other trades. The right candidate has strong painting experience, is comfortable with frequent travel, takes pride in clean finishes, and can work professionally around guests, staff, vendors, and diverse property teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, maintain, and clean worksites to meet safety and quality standards
- Perform commercial and industrial painting, coatings, and surface preparation
- Apply coatings, paints, primers, stains, and finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment
- Complete interior and exterior painting for hotel renovations, repairs, remodels, and upgrades
- Protect floors, furniture, fixtures, equipment, and guest-facing areas during work
- Operate hand tools, power tools, ladders, lifts, spray equipment, and other equipment safely
- Follow company uniform, safety gear, PPE, and jobsite protocols at all times
- Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, contractors, and other trades
- Assist with material handling, cleanup, punch-list items, and final quality checks
- Maintain a professional demeanor on all job sites and with all customers, guests, vendors, and property teams
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of painting experience required
- Commercial or industrial painting experience preferred
- Experience with surface preparation, coatings, and finish application
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, work on your feet for extended periods, and handle varying weather conditions
- Ability to travel frequently throughout the United States for extended project rotations
- Comfortable with changing schedules, shifting jobsite conditions, and nontraditional hours
- Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail
- Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
- Adaptable and respectful when working with diverse teams, vendors, guests, and property environments
- Ability to follow direction, work independently when needed, and contribute as part of a traveling field team
- Professional demeanor and full comfort working in LGBTQ+ centered spaces
Pay and Benefits
- Pay: $30 to $40/hour, depending on experience
- Full-time W-2 position
