Position Overview:

J.F. Brennan Company is a fourth-generation, family-owned marine construction firm with over 105 years of expertise building and restoring America's waterways. As Brennan's project backlog and geographic footprint continue to grow, the company is adding Project Managers across the Midwest to keep pace with expanding demand. This is not a placeholder hire — it is a direct response to a winning streak of project work across environmental remediation, marine construction, dam construction, railroad, and Army Corps of Engineers contracts.

The Project Manager is the centerpiece of every Brennan project — responsible for contract administration, schedule management, financial oversight, client communication, subcontractor coordination, and operational alignment with field superintendents. You will manage projects ranging from $2M to $20M+ in contract value, working across public and private sector clients on some of the most technically complex water-based infrastructure work in the country.

This role works out of one of Brennan's Midwest hubs (Duluth, MN • Ottawa, IL • St. Louis, MO area) and travels to project sites throughout the region. Brennan is committed to getting people home, so rotation schedules are designed with your family in mind.

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of construction project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to manage project schedules, budgets, and document control simultaneously
  • Experience as primary point of contact for clients — managing meetings, change orders, and expectations
  • Proficiency managing subcontractors: scopes, RFQs, quotes, and buyout
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the Midwest; valid driver's license
  • B.S. in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience
