Job Title: Traveling Construction Superintendent

Job Description

This role oversees commercial and industrial construction projects with a focus on quality, safety, and schedule adherence. You will provide daily on-site supervision of subcontractors, ensure work complies with contract requirements and project plans, and keep projects on track while traveling to various job sites based out of the Columbus, Ohio area.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily on-site supervision of subcontractors to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  • Monitor contractor production, schedules, and performance to keep projects on time and aligned with company standards.
  • Ensure contractors complete assigned work on schedule and proactively address any issues that could cause delays.
  • Communicate the daily status of current projects to the Project Manager, providing clear updates on progress, challenges, and resource needs.
  • Report and address all potential safety concerns, incidents, and issues promptly, promoting a strong safety culture on every job site.
  • Certify that all submittals are in compliance with contract requirements before work proceeds.
  • Review plans and specifications to confirm that all requirements are understood and met for each phase of the construction process.
  • Review all material submittals to verify compliance with project plans and specifications.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and internal teams to resolve field issues and maintain high-quality construction standards.
  • Support the successful delivery of commercial, industrial, and warehouse projects by maintaining organized documentation and clear communication.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a construction superintendent.
  • Proven background in commercial construction projects.
  • Experience working on industrial and/or warehouse projects.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate multiple subcontractors on active job sites.
  • Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, and contract requirements.
  • Capability to monitor and manage production, schedules, and contractor performance.
  • Solid communication skills to provide clear daily updates to project leadership.
  • Commitment to identifying, reporting, and resolving safety concerns promptly.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly while being based out of the Columbus, Ohio area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working with or for a general contractor in a commercial construction environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow within a construction organization and take on increasing responsibility.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing documentation, submittals, and project reporting.
  • Problem-solving mindset to address field issues and maintain project momentum.
  • Comfort working on multiple projects over time in different locations.

Work Environment

This is a traveling construction superintendent role based out of the Columbus, Ohio area, supporting commercial, industrial, and warehouse projects at various job sites. You will spend most of your time on active construction sites, supervising subcontractors and coordinating daily activities. Travel and lodging are fully paid and arranged, and a per diem is provided while you are on the road. The schedule is structured so that you are home every other weekend, offering a balance between travel and time at home. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
