Nature of Work

Under limited direction, performs compliance monitoring, legislative tracking, data analysis and reporting, staff training, financial literacy development, marketing and communication, and assists with treasury operations and administrative work of considerable difficulty for the Treasurer's Office; performs related work as assigned.

Please note this is a limited appointment position with an end date of June 30th, 2029.

Typical Duties

(Illustrative only)

  • Monitors Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Uniform Accounting Manual for Arizona County Treasurers (UAMACT), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB), and other federal and state regulations and statutes
  • Maintains, updates, and implements departmental policies and procedures to maintain compliance with industry standards and legal requirements
  • Tracks legislative and regulatory changes
  • Provides timely updates to leadership on legislative and regulatory changes
  • Analyzes treasury data to support decision making
  • Prepares briefing materials for leadership for meetings, presentations, and press calls
  • Delivers internal training on treasury operations
  • Develops user-friendly financial literacy materials designed to minimize taxpayer uncertainty
  • Creates clear public facing materials, managing digital communications, and supporting outreach to improve transparency and taxpayer engagement
  • Provides disbursement support consistent with UAMACT requirements, including ACH/wire transfer requests, warrant review and approval, and other related transfer requests as needed
  • Aids in long term staffing, succession planning, and staff development
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Essential functions of this position include but not limited to: driving; sitting; working with and around others; dealing with interruptions; repetitive motion (hand/wrist) for computer work; vision acuity (near) for routine office and customer service duties; hearing and speech for ordinary conversation; finger dexterity for typing and paperwork.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in subject area and four years progressively responsible management experience in assigned or closely related field including one year of supervisory experience OR any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

The ideal candidate will excel in a highly collaborative team environment and demonstrate exceptional organizational, communication and conflict-management skills. They will bring strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related productivity platforms, a solid understanding of county governance and acceptable banking practices, and well-developed internet, digital literacy, security and privacy competencies. The candidate will stay informed on social media and emerging technology trends. They will possess excellent analytical and research abilities to support policy development, compliance, and regulatory work, along with strong problem solving skills to address challenges as they arise. The ideal candidate can design and deliver engaging, learner centered training that enables participants to connect concepts to their responsibilities and retain key knowledge. Building and maintaining strong, positive relationships with co workers, customers, stakeholders, and key partners is essential to success in this role.
