TREATMENT COUNSELOR I $53,955 - $83,703 annually
TREATMENT COUNSELOR II $56,653 - $87,888 annually
TREATMENT COUNSELOR III $59,531 - $92,352 annually
Master's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Behavioral Science, or related field.
Three (3) years of professional experience and/or training in delivery of counseling in substance use and/or behavioral health programs.
Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) or Florida Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Florida Licensed Psychologist at time of hire.
Nature of Work
Under direction, the purpose of the position is to provide professional substance use/mental health treatment relating to victims, social service, addiction, and crisis intervention for clients (in the community or incarcerated individuals) of the Broward Sheriff's Office Department of Community Programs. Employees in this classification perform specialized and professional treatment work of a rehabilitative nature. Position is responsible for interviewing, counseling, evaluating, assessing, and providing substance use, mental health, crisis intervention and follow-up counseling to clients (in the community or incarcerated individuals) participating in programming in the community and/or while incarcerated.
The job classifications of Treatment Counselor II and Treatment Counselor III are distinguished by the level of education, experience, and job functions. Performs related work as directed.

Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. May require occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of heavier objects. Tasks are performed in a corrections environment where proper provisions are in place in terms of employee security and protection. Due to the nature and location of the work environment, tasks include potential for intermittent exposure to disagreeable elements consistent with routine conditions in a corrections detainment environment.
