About the roleJoin our Treatment Court team as a Probation Officer dedicated to helping medium- and high-risk offenders successfully complete court-ordered programs. Working under the Treatment Court Supervisor and Director, you will carry a specialized caseload, connecting defendants with community services, monitoring compliance, and collaborating with the full Treatment Court team to support rehabilitation and public safety.This is a union position with a non-traditional schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and some holidays.What you'll doSupervise and counsel defendants placed on your caseload, monitoring all conditions of probation as ordered by the Twenty-Third Judicial Circuit Court and reporting violations to the State's Attorney's OfficeConduct enhanced face-to-face supervision contacts guided by Risk/Need assessment tools and individualized defendant needsPrepare and present accurate, timely case information for court proceedings, including written reports and testimonyRefer defendants to appropriate community social service agencies and advocate on their behalf for needed servicesCollaborate closely with the Treatment Court team to report defendant progress, and to deliver sanctions and incentives as directedApply the Effective Casework Model (ECW) in all casework interactionsMaintain accurate case records and submit weekly activity and monthly statistical reportsAttend court sessions, staffings, team meetings, and conduct home visits as requiredBuild and sustain positive working relationships with allied agencies and community partnersWhat you'll bringBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (required); prior experience in probation, criminal justice, social work, or a related field preferredStrong written communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, professional reports for court and agency useEffective oral communication skills to gather information from defendants and convey their needs to service providersSound analytical judgment and problem-solving ability for casework decisions and policy complianceCultural sensitivity and interpersonal awareness across diverse defendant populationsFamiliarity with local community social service agencies and resourcesSolid organizational and time management skills to handle a varied caseload and meet deadlinesWorking knowledge of Microsoft Word and ExcelValid driver's license and ability to transport yourself as required for field work and home visitsBilingual in English and Spanish a plusSchedule & working conditionsThis position is primarily office-based with regular court appearances, home visits, and community agency contacts. A flexible, adaptable schedule is essential, as evening, weekend, and occasional holiday hours are part of the role.
