Job Summary
The Treatment Director is responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of licensed treatment programming in accordance with applicable Minnesota Statues and rules, The Joint Commission standards, Host County requirements, and Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge policy.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Licensing and Program Compliance

  • Maintain program policies, manuals, and supporting documentation to meet licensing agency and Host County requirements.
  • Ensure treatment services align with each client’s individual treatment plan, including individual and group counseling, client education, transition services and other required services.
  • Ensure program services, documentation, staffing and treatment practices comply with applicable licensing requirements including Minnesota Statues Chapter 245G and Minnesota Rules Chapter 2960 when applicable.
  • Ensure assessments, documentation, reviews, and state reporting are completed within required timeframes.
  • Oversee curriculum development and delivery to help clients identify and address problems related to chemical use.
  • Ensure participation in the drug and alcohol abuse normative evaluation system, as required.
  • Initiate and maintain consultation services related to medical interventions, mental health services, and medication administration in accordance with Minnesota Rule Chapter 2960.

Supervision and Team Oversight

  • Conduct annual performance reviews for supervised staff and provide performance coaching or corrective action when needed.
  • Ensure employees are supervised in accordance with licensing agency and Host County requirements.
  • Maintain required licensing documentation, including continuing education and training records, in compliance with Minnesota Rule Chapter 2960.
  • Provide oversight and direction to the treatment team, as needed.
  • Monitor staffing levels and address coverage needs to support safe, compliant program operations.
  • Carry a caseload of clients to provide individual counseling and facilitate group therapy along with other treatment services as needed.

Continuing Education and Training

  • Stay current on professional research, treatment practices, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Complete continuing education required by the State of Minnesota to maintain an Alcohol and Drug Counselor license.
  • Attend required in-house training, team meetings, and staff meetings.

Required Skills & Experience (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in the addiction industry
  • At least 3 years of experience providing individual and group counseling to individuals with substance use disorder.
  • At least 1 year of experience providing adolescent experience in counseling with substance use disorder.
  • Prior leadership experience preferred.
  • Comfort and compassion in working with individuals facing life-controlling challenges, such as mental health issues and addiction.
  • Demonstrate MnTC's mission, Culture of Honor, core values, and Putting Honor in Action principles through daily interactions, fostering a welcoming, respectful, and relationship centered environment.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older.
  • At least 1 year of freedom from problematic substances.
  • Must be able to meet specific staff requirements outlined in Minnesota Statutes 245G.11. Reference: Sec. 245G.11 MN Statutes
  • Must pass a DHS background study as required under MN Statutes, Chapter 245C and 245G.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds at a time.

Target Compensation Range (Negotiable based on Qualifications):

$82,000-$90,000/year
