Treatment Nurse (LVN) - Full-Time & Part-Time

Peninsula Post Acute is seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dependable Treatment Nurse (LVN) to join our nursing team. This role is ideal for an experienced nurse who takes pride in providing high-quality resident care, with a strong focus on wound care, treatments, communication, and resident dignity.

Compensation

$40-$46 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Schedules

  • Full-Time: Sunday-Wednesday

  • Part-Time: Thursday-Saturday

General Purpose

The primary function of the Treatment Nurse is to ensure effective and efficient care is provided as prescribed by the physician and in accordance with facility policies and procedures. The Treatment Nurse reports directly to the Director of Nursing and is responsible for providing care in accordance with current federal, state, local, and corporate standards, regulations, and guidelines to ensure the highest degree of quality care for our residents.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Communicate regularly with residents and their families regarding Plans of Care, PT, OT, and other treatment protocols.

  • Provide excellent communication and customer service to residents and families.

  • Maintain a high standard of nursing practice and professional conduct.

  • Document nurses' notes accurately and descriptively, reflecting care provided and the resident's response to treatment.

  • Provide resident care and carry out physicians' orders, including medications and treatments.

  • Perform treatments in a manner that protects each resident's dignity and self-respect.

  • Accurately observe and assess wounds and pressure injuries, promptly notifying physicians of delayed healing, deterioration, or signs and symptoms of infection.

  • Ensure appropriate wound care management services are incorporated into the care plan, including specialized mattresses, nutritional supplements, and other interventions as appropriate.

  • Assist with preparing and updating care plans related to treatment and wound care.

  • Assist physicians and other healthcare providers during visits and examinations.

  • Communicate with physicians and healthcare professionals regarding resident care, treatments, and changes in condition.

  • Notify families and attending physicians of significant treatment-related issues, including:

  • Sudden or significant changes in skin condition or wounds.

  • Adverse responses to medications or treatments, as well as medication or treatment refusals or unavailability.

  • Treatment errors that present a significant risk.

  • Inability to timely obtain or administer prescribed treatment-related medications, equipment, supplies, or services that pose a significant risk.

  • Participate in the orientation and ongoing training of nursing staff.

  • Report significant findings, changes in condition, and potential concerns to the RN Supervisor and/or Director of Nursing.

  • Provide patient, caring, and compassionate support to residents who may be upset, anxious, or in need of reassurance.

  • Participate in facility surveys and inspections conducted by authorized government agencies as requested by the Administrator, Director of Nursing, or Assistant Director of Nursing.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Two or more years of nursing experience preferred, particularly in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility.

  • Strong wound care and treatment experience preferred.

Licensure & Certifications

  • Current, unencumbered Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license, as applicable.

  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to resident care.
