Positon: Tree Farm Laborer Requirements: None Job description: Spring Harvest: Spring harvest begins in March and requires pruning, ball and burlap and digging nursery grown trees. Trees are then staged, moved, loaded or planted and some are connected to irrigation. After digging trees irrigation is activated and maintained for efficiency and proper coverage. Trees are mulched, tree rows are backfilled and soil preparation commences for new trees. New trees arrive in April and May and are planted throughout June. Maintenance, weed removal and irrigation continues. Summer Season: Summer continues with many plantings, tree row and irrigation maintenance, mowing and weed removal and management. Mulching, staking and care of trees as needed. Soil tilling, grading work continues for old rows and prep for new rows. Late Summer and Fall Season: Late season continues general maintenance with irrigation, mulching and weed management. Trees that will be dug are prepared for fall harvest in September and are dug in October and early November. Trees are balled and burlapped, moved, loaded and/or planted. Fall pruning begins and lasts until spring. Tools used throughout the year include shovels, picks, pruners, saws, rakes, mowers, weed whackers. Anticipated hours of work per week: 48 Schedule: 6:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday - Saturday Anticipated period of employment: April 1, 2025 - November 1, 2025 Application deadline: July 17, 2025 Job location: Fort Collins, CO 80524 Pay: $19.00 Effective 1/1/24, overtime must be paid after 48 hours worked per week, or 56 hours worked per week for up to 22 "peak weeks" for highly seasonal employers, after 54 hours worked per week for non-highly seasonal employers, and after 56 hours worked per week for small employers. Overtime available; paid at time and 1/2 rate of pay. Employer will abide by all of Colorado's agricultural laws to include Senate Bill 21-087 ("SB87") and the Overtime and Minimum Pay Standards Order (COMPS order) #38.
