Job Summary
- The Plant Health Care Technician ensures client expectations are met or exceeded by diagnosing issues, coordinating treatments, and monitoring plant health across assigned job sites.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Print reports of jobs with plant healthcare services sold.
- Develop a schedule for daily job inspections and applications utilizing integrated pest management practices.
- Diagnose plant health issues and determine the appropriate course of action, such as fertilization, soil testing, or chemical application.
- Assist Operations and Account Managers with diagnosing and treating plant health issues as needed, demonstrating flexibility with scheduling.
- Assist in site quality assessments when on job sites.
- Inspect truck and hoses for leaks or damage.
- Check to be sure all equipment is in working order and the equipment is calibrated correctly.
- Fill truck tank half full of water.
- Put on personal safety equipment.
- Pull appropriate chemicals, measure out the amount, and add water in truck tank.
- Drive to site and survey property to determine best way to apply chemicals.
- Rinse out hose and tanks on turf or in accordance with Governmental regulations.
- Clean safety equipment in accordance with Material Safety Data Sheets
- Maintain chemical storage and mix areas in compliance with regulations.
Education and Experience:
- Requires a two- or four-year degree in Landscape or Business-related disciplines, or 2-3 years of equivalent experience in landscape maintenance or a similar industry.
- Must obtain a pesticide applicator’s license. Prior supervisory or leadership experience desired.
- Knowledge of plant and turf identification and care, including disease and insect knowledge; standards units of measure; and basic math, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, area, and square feet.
- Strong communication skills, excellent customer service, and the ability to solve problems using sound judgement.
Physical Demands/Requirements:
- Able to leverage 50lbs. of a walk behind mower over curbs; walk 2-10 miles a day; carry up to 30 lbs.; stoop, stand and bend up to 9 hours or more a day; lift branches and limbs; push, pull, grip, and squeeze various tools, products and/or items.
- Be at least 18 years old (21 if operating company provided vehicles)
- Possess strong stamina and have the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions including extreme heat and cold.
- Able to safely operate landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, edgers).
- Able to bend, stoop, kneel, twist, stand, walk continuously throughout the day and perform repetitive motions for extended periods.
- Able to perform manual labor using a variety of hand tools (e.g. shovels, rakes)
- You are able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., safety shoes, high-visibility clothing, hand protection, eye protection, hearing protection, head protection)
- Landscapers who will be operating a BrightView fleet vehicle are required to have a valid driver’s license and meet company standards as it relates motor vehicle performance identified on a state issued motor vehicle record check.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays if needed.
- Ability to maintain, in your possession at all times, required medications to address any known allergic reactions should they occur.
Work Environment:
- Ability to work outdoors/indoors in moderate to extreme weather conditions (e.g., temperatures more than 100°F, temperatures below 32°F, various levels of humidity)
- Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time.
- Work outdoors near automotive traffic, bodies of water, fumes, dust, mechanical and/or electrical hazards.
- Ability to work in environments where extended periods of loud noise are present.
- Ability to work in environments where exposure to allergens such as pollen and rag weed, insects such as bees and spiders and reptiles such as lizards and snakes.

Compensation Pay Range:
Pay $20.00 - $25.00
