At HDR, employee‑owners are fully engaged in creating a welcoming environment where each of us is valued and respected.Job SummaryHDR is looking for a Trenchless Engineer to join our national Trenchless Services team. The role reports to the Trenchless Services Engineering Lead and involves supporting the design, construction, and field execution of trenchless projects, including hydraulic fracture, microtunneling, and Direct Pipe®.ResponsibilitiesPerform desktop route selection and evaluate feasibility for trenchless crossings.Carry out site reconnaissance visits.Develop subsurface investigation programs to determine feasibility of construction.Evaluate surface and subsurface conditions to select preferred trenchless techniques.Interface with discipline leads and production staff to support trenchless design deliverables.Communicate with clients about project status and technical discussions.Estimate quantities of materials used and disposed of, and installation loading and stress for pipeline installations.Assess application of trenchless technologies and participate in selection of preferred methods.Perform calculations to determine pipe and coating specifications.Define workspace requirements for construction equipment at crossing locations.Prepare and/or review project documentation: specifications, bid packages, drawings, reports, and data sets.Build knowledge and use software models for trenchless pipeline design.Interface with project team members outside the Trenchless Team on multidisciplinary projects.Develop permit application documents and drawings.Ensure compliance with industry standards, governing codes, and legislation.Prepare field engineering and as‑built documents.Contribute to the definition and update of department standards and procedures.Apply HDR's PMO processes and focus on successful project delivery.Establish workflow delivery for projects including engineering, design, subcontractor services, and construction.Procure, manage, and coordinate with sub‑consultants for trenchless projects.Perform construction oversight and observation in the field, monitor daily activities, and provide recommendations.Preferred QualificationsMinimum 10 years of professional engineering experience, with a focus on trenchless methods.Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.Experience working in a remote environment.Design knowledge of trenchless construction methods.Team oriented with strong accountability.Strong writing and computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.Ability to handle multiple assignments, manage time and prioritize tasks independently.Self‑motivated and able to work autonomously while maintaining communication with remote team members.Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Travel required; frequency and duration depend on project needs and may be extensive.Position subject to a pre‑employment drug test.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree.Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position (e.g., PE or P.Eng).Experience with Microsoft Office, MicroStation, or other relevant software.Experience with GeoStudio/Ensoft or similar geotechnical analysis software.Experience with Bentley suite of geotechnical data management and visualization software (gINT/OpenGround/LeapFrog).Commitment to active participation in HDR's employee‑owned culture.BenefitsHDR offers a comprehensive benefits package that promotes employee health, performance, and success, including medical, dental, vision, short and long‑term disability, life insurance, an employee assistance program, paid time away, parental leave, paid holidays, a retirement savings plan with employer match, an employee referral bonus, and tuition reimbursement.Expected compensation range: $125,000 – $150,000 (based on skills, experience, education, and geographic location).LocationPrimary Location: Atlanta, GA.
