    Job Description

Securin is an AI-native cybersecurity company. Our Preemptive Exposure Management Platform turns exposure data into clear decisions — giving organizations the confidence to know which risks are exploitable, what to fix first, and how to act before attackers do.

Securin believes that the next generation of cybersecurity talent must reflect the full diversity of the communities it serves. This internship is part of Securin's commitment to expanding cybersecurity career pathways and supporting the development of cybersecurity talent within Tribal communities in New Mexico.

    Why Focus on Tribal Communities?

Digital threats to Tribal governments, healthcare systems, and critical infrastructure are rising rapidly. Tribal sovereignty creates unique cybersecurity challenges — including protecting sensitive community data, treaty records, and financial systems. Securin is committed to building cyber-resilience within Native communities by helping develop the next generation of cybersecurity defenders.

    ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Tribal Nations Cybersecurity Intern, you will work directly alongside Securin's security analysts, threat intelligence researchers, and vulnerability management engineers on real-world projects. This is not a shadowing role — you will have ownership of meaningful tasks from day one, contribute to deliverables that impact Securin clients and Tribal government partners, and present your findings at the conclusion of the program.

Interns are embedded within one of three focus tracks depending on interest and skill level:

    TRACK

    FOCUS AREAS

Track A: Threat Intelligence & Vulnerability Management

CVE/NVD analysis, adversarial threat research, risk scoring, MITRE ATT&CK framework mapping, intel reporting

    Track B: Security Operations (SOC)

Alert triage, SIEM monitoring, incident detection & response, log analysis, false positive reduction

    Track C: Tribal Infrastructure Security

Risk assessments for Tribal government networks, compliance mapping (NIST, CIS), security awareness development, data protection strategy

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities will vary by track, but all interns are expected to:

    • Monitor and analyze cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and security events using Securin's AI-driven platforms and industry-standard tooling (SIEM, EDR, vulnerability scanners)

    • Conduct vulnerability assessments: scan results review, CVE/NVD analysis, prioritization by severity and exploitability, and remediation tracking

    • Assist with threat intelligence research — gathering indicators of compromise (IOCs), mapping threats to the MITRE ATT&CK framework, and producing weekly intelligence briefs

    • Support security incident response efforts including alert triage, enrichment, and preliminary investigation under senior analyst supervision.

    • Contribute to security documentation: policies, procedures, playbooks, and findings reports tailored to Tribal government contexts

    • Participate in knowledge-sharing sessions, team stand-ups, and one-on-one mentoring meetings with senior security professionals

    • Complete a capstone project applying cybersecurity principles to a real problem relevant to Tribal community infrastructure or sovereignty data protection.

    • Present final project findings to Securin leadership and Tribal community stakeholders at the close of the internship.

    Requirements

    • Coursework or self-study in cybersecurity, computer networking, computer science, or information technology

    • Familiarity with operating systems: Windows, Linux, or macOS

    • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an accredited 2-year college, 4-year university, Tribal college, or vocational program — any STEM, IT, or related field

    • Basic familiarity with computers and technology; curiosity and willingness to learn cybersecurity concepts

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed remote team

    • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require current or future employment visa sponsorship.

    Preferred (Not Required)

    • Exposure to tools such as Wireshark, Nmap, Nessus, Splunk, or similar

    • Any cybersecurity certifications or training (CompTIA Security+, Google Cybersecurity Certificate, SANS courses, etc.)

    Benefits

    • Laptop and required software provided for the internship

    • Access to Securin's professional development resources, training platforms, and cybersecurity certification prep materials

    • Letter of recommendation upon successful completion

    • Priority consideration for full-time opportunities at Securin upon graduation

    • Networking access to Securin's partner ecosystem of cybersecurity companies and Tribal government clients

    • Certificate of Completion recognizing the Tribal Nations Cybersecurity Internship
