    KAW NATION POSITION DESCRIPTION

    TITLE: Tribal Youth Program Project Coordinator

    IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: KNES Director

    CONTROLLING SUPERVISOR: Chair

    QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in social work, Psychology, Sociology, Juvenile Justice, or closely related field with one of more years of work experience in the field of juvenile services preferred.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Provide intervention and prevention services to at-risk Native American youth in Kaw Nation service area.
    • Organize, prepare, and develop all activities for tribal youth focused on tribal culture, relevant topics, and juvenile issues.
    • Attend mandatory and purpose are related trainings including the Tribal Youth Summit. Attend with youth interns and provide mentoring.
    • Work closely with counselors, Kaw Nation social service programs, and other service providers to implement prevention and intervention services.
    • Coordinate a Kaw Nation Youth Coalition that meets quarterly throughout the project period.
    • Plan and coordinate events for the Tribal Youth Program including the Intern program, Back-to-School Bash, Youth Field Trips, Youth Powwow, Teen Dating Awareness Month, and provide afterschool activities and family strengthening cultural classes.
    • Work with the Language Program to assist with the Language Fair and provide a Tribal youth Summer Day Camp.
    • Work closely with project partners and KN internal departments to implement prevention and intervention services and establish a mentoring/tutoring schedule and pairing system.
    • Maintain goals and objectives as identified in the Tribal Youth Program Grant and provide information to the grantor in a timely fashion. Responsible for collecting data and assisting with preparation of grant required reporting.
    • Provide case management services to tribal juvenile offenders and their families, including home-based and referral services. Provide intervention/treatment services through contract providers and referrals as needed.
    • Perform other related duties as may be required by immediate supervisor.
