Role: Tribunal Hearing Officer (PRN)
Reports to: Superintendent or Designee
FLSA Status: Exempt
Contract Days: As Needed
Salary Category: Stipend

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct student disciplinary tribunal hearings in accordance with Georgia law, State Board of Education rules, and local Board policies.
- Ensure all tribunal proceedings are conducted in a fair, impartial, and professional manner while protecting the due process rights of all parties.
- Review disciplinary referrals, investigative reports, witness statements, and supporting documentation prior to hearings.
- Preside over tribunal hearings by administering oaths, maintaining order, and ensuring established hearing procedures are followed.
- Receive testimony, evaluate evidence, and determine findings of fact based on the evidence presented.
- Prepare written findings, conclusions, and recommendations for disciplinary action in accordance with applicable laws and Board policy.
- Maintain accurate records of hearings, evidence, decisions, and supporting documentation.
- Communicate hearing outcomes and recommendations to the Superintendent or designee in a timely manner.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding student records and tribunal proceedings in accordance with FERPA and applicable laws.
- Interpret and apply Board policies, administrative regulations, and Georgia education laws related to student discipline.
- Collaborate with school administrators, district leadership, legal counsel, and other staff as necessary regarding tribunal procedures.
- Participate in professional learning related to student discipline, due process requirements, and changes in state or federal law.
- Review current developments, legal guidance, and technical resources related to tribunal responsibilities.
- Follow all federal and state laws, Georgia Department of Education requirements, School Board policies, and administrative directives.
- Perform other duties related to tribunal proceedings as assigned by the Superintendent or designee.
Qualifications
- Hold or be eligible for the required certification.
- School administrative experience preferred
- Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- High integrity, excellent character, and good professional reputation.
- Abide by the Georgia Professional Standards Code of Ethics for Educators.
- Ability to be regularly, predictably, and reliably at work.
- Ability to perform tasks involving prolonged periods of standing, walking, and sitting.
- Ability to perform routine physical activities such as bending and lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
- Vision, hearing, and written and verbal communication are essential for performing required tasks.
- Must be able to properly and consistently supervise students, particularly during emergency situations.
