Description of Work
Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Upward Bound and the Director of Special Programs, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
- Collaborate and follow instructions as delegated by the Coordinator or the Director
- Enforce program policies and procedures, carry out disciplinary procedures, and report situations to the Coordinator as necessary
- Maintain proper documentation
- Administer pre-assessments and post-assessments to the participants to determine areas for improvement and to track growth (or mastery)
- Record and track the progress of each participant using an online grading system
- Plan lessons that encourage students to think critically and connect the content to their lives and experiences
- Plan and integrate cross-curricular activities embedding tenants of STEM and Computer Science
- Ensure IEP/504 accommodations are used when delivering instruction/tutoring
- Conduct tutoring sessions during the week or outside of Saturday Sessions, based on the needs/at the request of the students
- Integrate SAT and ACT concepts into course content on a consistent basis
- Plan and instruct the COE Jurassic STEAM Club (grant-funded program\u2014curriculum has already been created).
- Assist with planning and conducting academic-related workshops
- Serve as a chaperone for trips
- Serve as a mentor to a group of participants
- Use research-proven strategies to deliver instruction (differentiated instruction, student-centered strategies, etc.)
- Attend professional development sessions conducted by the Coordinator and follow plan for implementing new strategies/activities
- Conduct self in a professional manner and be positive for students
- Create a positive learning environment for students
- Attend staff meetings

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation
A Bachelor's degree with the appropriate teaching license and at least two years of successful teaching experience (in one of the following areas: English, Science, Mathematics or Foreign Language)
