Frequently lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.Must be 21 years or older.DutiesThe purpose of this position is to serve as an Outdoor Recreation Trips and Tours Programmer responsible for overall management, planning, maintenance, and control of all outdoor facilities and equipment. The employee develops, organizes, and implements seasonal outdoor programs that include land and water‑related activities such as aquatics, camping, backpacking, nature hikes, canoeing, rafting, rock climbing, bicycling, skiing, and more. The role plans and coordinates activities within the limitations of available facilities, equipment, staff, and financial resources, analyzes related costs, calculates prices of trips and events, schedules and publicizes activities, and arranges for off‑base equipment, transportation, supplies, and services. The employee establishes contact with off‑base agencies, solicits volunteers, provides orientation and training, instructs participants in activities requiring technical expertise, and gathers, monitors, and maintains data for reports. The position assists the Outdoor Recreation Manager and Assistant Manager in planning, developing, and conducting training programs and a risk management plan, and contributes to periodic program plans and quarterly and annual budget requirements. The employee ensures safety orientation for paid and volunteer staff and participants, determines program needs and objectives through patron requests, surveys, and current trends, evaluates program effectiveness, adapts programs accordingly, and organizes special events as assigned. The employee may act as a trip/tour guide, supervise volunteers and recreation assistants, and perform general clerical and administrative duties, including supply functions such as receipt, storage, issue, and maintenance. The position is a Position of Trust.Conditions of EmploymentThis position requires the incumbent to complete a background investigation with favorable results.Must be 21 years or older.Must possess a valid vehicle operator's license.This is a drug‑testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.Must be able to complete a pre‑employment physical.Certifications highly desirable: Wilderness First Responder/Wilderness First Aid, and AMGA Single Pitch Instructor or equivalent. Training or certifications in skiing, snowboarding, paddle sports, or mountain biking instruction also desirable.QualificationsOpen to everyone.
