Drive The Salvation Army truck to other stores to pick up clothing, furniture and other items, to deliver to other Salvation Army stores, as scheduled by the production supervisor over the stores. Provides assistance as needed and directed by the production supervisor or family store managers, to include driving the forklift, loading clothes on rag truck and moving stock. Responsible to keep truck maintenance up to date and clean. Checks fluid levels at the start of each day, checks tire pressure and tightness of belts. Trucks will be washed monthly and trucks should be swept out at the end of each day. Maintains good relationships with supervisor's and donors and other staff. Loads and disposes of non-usable items at landfill. Lifts, carriers, and/or hauls donations into truck, packs items in manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage.
High School diiploma or GED, one year of experience driving a heavy duty truck or large van or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Ability to communicate effectively orally, being physically fit, heavy lifting required. Ability to drive and operate a truck with a bed or cabin of 14' in length or longer, ability to operate a liftgate on back of truck, ability to operate various hand trucks and carts. Ability to follow directions. Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects up to 100 lbs. Must have a valid driver's license.
