JOB FUNCTION:
As a Truck Driver, you will play a crucial role in the safe and timely delivery of goods to our retail stores. Your expertise in operating a semi-truck, ensuring the secure transport of cargo, and adhering to all relevant traffic and safety regulations is essential in helping us maintain our efficient retail store operation.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Inspect equipment before and after trips. Report equipment conditions as necessary
- Read delivery assignment prior to departure
- Drive tractor-trailer, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations to transport and deliver products or materials, possibly over long distances
- Maneuver truck into loading or unloading position
- Drive truck to weigh stations as necessary along route to document weight and conform to state regulations
- Maintains driver log according to regulations
- Operate on-board technology
- Return backhauls as assigned
- Report to work when scheduled
- Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of all assigned equipment
- Other duties as assigned
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be at least 21 years old or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Must possess a valid Class A CDL
Have one of the following:
2 years over-the-road verifiable experience
Successful completion of an approved and accredited CDL transportation program based on the FMCSA Safety Curriculum
Uses good judgment in decision making
Ability to effectively interpret DOT and FMCSA Regulations
Ability to understand and follow maps and instructions
Successful completion of driving/backing evaluation by a Fareway CDL Trainer
Knowledge of samsara ELDs is preferred, not required.
High attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
Ability to multitask and handle multiple priorities
Basic math skills are required
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, climbing, crawling, balancing, bending, and repetitive motions
- Ability to handle stress, including emergency situations
- Must pass FMCSA Clearinghouse check, DOT pre-employment physical and work screen, drug screen, and criminal background check
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Generally, work inside climate controlled tractor. Some exposure to outdoor seasonal temperatures
- Exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and fumes
- Noise level in work environment is low to moderate
- Work schedule can vary and may consist of as much as 2-3 days per week or as little as 1 day every couple of weeks
