Truck Driver & Warehouse Associate
Job description:
Tolman's Meats, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is seeking to fill a Truck Driver & Warehouse Associate role at our USDA-inspected production facility. In this role, you will be part of a collaborative team performing production and production support tasks.
Essential job functions include:
- Utilizing FIFO
- Experience using a sit-down hilo and electric pallet jacks
- Lifting up to 100 lbs.
- Pushing/pulling up to 2,000 lbs.
- Working in an environment below 35 degrees
- Handling proper recycling of facility materials
- Cleaning routines within facility
- Fast-paced environment
- Supporting the production team, sometimes including joining the production team
- Product delivery, as needed
- Inventory Management as needed
- Customer Service as needed
- Safely operate a tractor-trailer across designated routes, adhering to all safety regulations and company policies
- Load and unload product using proper techniques, including forklift operation when necessary
- Drive a commercial truck and trailer locally.
- Manage route driving efficiently to meet delivery schedules while maintaining high safety standards
- Conduct pre-trip inspections on trucks and trailers to ensure vehicle safety and compliance with DOT regulations
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding delivery status, route changes, or any issues encountered during trips
- Assist with securing loads to prevent damage during transit.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to read, speak, and write in English to understand instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety standards
- Basic math, reasoning, and critical thinking skills
- Knowledge of First In/First Out
- Hilo experience required
- Warehouse/5-S knowledge
- Valid CDL-A license with a clean driving record and recent experience operating a tractor-trailer in a commercial setting.
- 1-2 years proven delivery driver experience

Physical Requirements:
- Frequent bending and continuous twisting
- Routinely lifting up to 60 lbs., carrying, pushing or pulling moderately heavy objects as assigned by position
- Continuous standing and walking for up to 8 hours
- Continuous use of upper body (arms, wrists, hands) for up to 8 hours
Work Environment:
The job operates in a refrigerated food production (45°F) and warehouse setting (35°F). The floor surface is concrete. The noise level is moderate with no vibration. Material movement takes place throughout the facility.
Work Shift: Monday - Friday 5:30 AM - 3:00 PM
Job Type: Full Time Employee
Average Hours per Week: 40 hours
Work Location: Grand Rapids facility - in person
Pay Rate: Starting at $23.00 per hour
