A CDL Class A Truck Driver is to work on a team, Is responsible for safely transporting freight while complying with federal, state, and company regulations. Typical responsibilities include:
Operate Class A commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, safely and efficiently.
Transport freight to designated locations while meeting delivery schedules.
Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer.
Ensure cargo is properly loaded, secured, and balanced to prevent shifting during transport.
Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and shipping documents in compliance with DOT regulations.
Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations.
Plan routes and use GPS or dispatch instructions to optimize delivery times.
Communicate with dispatch, customers, and warehouse personnel regarding delivery status and any delays.
Report vehicle maintenance issues, accidents, or safety concerns promptly.
Keep the truck clean and perform basic preventive maintenance checks.
Verify freight against bills of lading and obtain required delivery signatures.
Provide professional customer service during pickups and deliveries.
Adhere to hours-of-service regulations and manage driving time responsibly.
Assist with loading and unloading freight when required by the employer.
Respond appropriately to emergencies, breakdowns, or changing road conditions.
