Truck Helper (7785)

Schedule/Hours: Tuesday-Saturday, 24 hours weekly

This position is responsible for:

Assists in picking up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck. Lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same. Assists driver by navigating driver to destinations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Rides in Salvation Army truck on scheduled route to pickup donated items.
• Inspects donated items according to established policies and procedures for usability. Explains policy to customers regarding types of items that can be accepted.
• Packs items in truck to maximize use of space, protects items from damage, and ensures safety
• Prepares donation receipts for customers. Maintains good relationships with donors and promote favorable image of The Salvation Army

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Work requires riding in vehicle daily with exposure to outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat, or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.
• Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving lifting and carrying heavy objects
