Ready to take ownership of the day & not just react to it?

Gallagher Asphalt is looking for an experienced, driven dispatcher who thrives in a fast-moving operation and knows how to keep trucks, drivers, materials, and projects moving efficiently.

This is not a role for someone who waits for problems to appear. We are looking for a proactive logistics professional who anticipates needs, builds strong relationships, adjusts quickly, and takes pride in finding a better way. You will play a critical role in coordinating trucking across construction projects, asphalt plants, retail customers, material deliveries, liquid hauling, and equipment moves.

You will join a team that works hard, solves problems together, and genuinely cares about the people behind the operation. At Shepley Motor Express, logistics is not just a support function, it directly impacts our crews, customers, financial performance, and ability to deliver excellent work.

What You’ll Own

As our Logistics Coordinator, you will:

  • Coordinate daily trucking schedules for construction projects, retail customers, plant operations, liquid asphalt hauling, raw material deliveries, and lowboy equipment moves.
  • Confirm that trucking requests are accepted and fully covered before the following day’s work begins.
  • Monitor trucking activity throughout the day and make real-time adjustments when schedules, production needs, weather, equipment, or job conditions change.
  • Communicate continuously with drivers, third-party trucking partners, foremen, project superintendents, plant personnel, customer service representatives, and construction leadership.
  • Strategically balance Shepley Motors trucks and third-party brokers to meet operational needs while controlling costs.
  • Coordinate Shepley lowboy drivers, equipment locations, permits, and the cost tracking associated with equipment moves.
  • Monitor incoming aggregate, asphalt cement, millings, rejuvenator, and other material deliveries to plants and jobsites.
  • Maintain accurate trucking, driver, vendor, rate, timecard, permit, and payment information within XBE and other company systems.
  • Review operational and financial data, identify waste, and recommend improvements.
  • Help strengthen our dispatching processes, technology, and overall approach to logistics.

How Success Will Be Measured

This position will have real ownership and clear performance expectations. A major focus will be eliminating trucking waste through stronger planning, scheduling, communication, and driver utilization.

Who We’re Looking For

You may be a great fit if you:

  • Have meaningful dispatching, trucking coordination, logistics, or plant scale experience.
  • Understand the pace and unpredictability of trucking, construction, heavy highway, asphalt, aggregate, or a similar operational environment.
  • Can look several steps ahead while still responding calmly when the plan changes.
  • Know how to build credibility with drivers, field leaders, vendors, and managers.
  • Are comfortable making decisions, solving conflicts, and communicating directly.
  • Are highly organized and can manage multiple schedules, priorities, and conversations at once.
  • Understand that operational details matter—and that missed details cost time and money.
  • Use data to find waste, improve performance, and hold yourself accountable.
  • Learn technology quickly and are comfortable working across several systems.
  • Want more than “just another dispatch job” and are hungry to grow your impact and career.

Experience with XBE, construction software, plant ticketing systems, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Laserfiche, Spectrum, or Monday.com is valuable, but we are willing to teach our systems to the right experienced operator. The position requires at least a high school diploma or equivalent, and previous dispatch or plant scale ticketing experience is strongly preferred.

What You Can Expect from Gallagher

Gallagher Asphalt is a family-owned company with a long history, strong values, and a culture built around people who take ownership of their work.

Our values guide how we operate:

  • Leadership: We inspire greatness in others.
  • Teamwork: We unify to achieve excellence.
  • Discipline: We do what we need to do, not simply what we want to do.
  • Innovation: We creatively solve problems.

This role reports to the Operations Support Manager and works closely with nearly every part of our construction and trucking operations. Regular on-site attendance is essential, and occasional night or weekend availability may be necessary based on operational needs.

Bring Us Your Experience and Your Drive

We are looking for someone who wants to make an operation better, not simply maintain it. Someone who enjoys the challenge of putting the puzzle together, keeping people informed, eliminating waste, and helping an entire team succeed.

If you are an experienced dispatcher who is hungry for ownership, growth, and the opportunity to join an exceptional team, we want to hear from you.
