Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and driven Truss Designer Trainee to join our team. This role is responsible for designing accurate, optimized roof and floor truss systems while supporting both production and customer needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret architectural drawings to create roof and floor truss placement layouts

  • Design roof and floor trusses using engineering software, ensuring accuracy and optimization

  • Ensure all designs align with current company policies, procedures, and design standards

  • Specify required hardware for each project

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Job Tracking Sheets

  • Send approval letters to customers in accordance with procedures when needed

  • Provide sales and customer support as required

  • Keep office and plans organized, logged, and properly maintained

  • Attend meetings and participate in team initiatives as directed

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy

  • Experience with Engineering programs, such as Auto Cad, Cad, Revit etc.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural prints or be willing to learn.

  • Comfortable working with design/engineering software

  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Responsibilities:

Reading architectural prints to create truss placement layouts

Design rood and floor trusses in engineering software

Other design support related tasks

Qualifications:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information to others one-on-one.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
