Position summary
Perform advanced Section 508 web testing and electronic-document testing and remediation. Provide technical assistance on accessibility test results, Accessibility Conformance Reports, Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates, remediation, and Trusted Tester training support.
Key responsibilities
Perform Section 508 testing of ICT using the DHS Trusted Tester Section 508 Conformance Test Process for Web, Version 5.0 or later, and approved reporting formats.
Test and remediate electronic documents and forms, including Microsoft Office and Adobe PDF, using the Accessibility Tests for Documents endorsed by the Federal CIO Council Community of Practice.
Develop accessibility test plans and provide clear technical guidance on interpreting results and correcting Section 508 defects.
Review Accessibility Conformance Reports and Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates and answer technical accessibility questions.
Provide remediation support for ICT and technical assistance to students completing accessibility training and Trusted Tester certification examinations.
Maintain current DHS Trusted Tester certification throughout task-order performance.
Mandatory qualifications
Broad knowledge of the Revised Section 508 Standards.
Current DHS Trusted Tester certification, Version 5.0 or later.
At least two years of accessibility testing experience.
At least two years of experience testing and remediating electronic documents for Section 508 standards.
Ability to meet DHS suitability and Entry on Duty requirements.
Preferred qualifications
Advanced experience remediating Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and tagged PDF content, including forms, tables, reading order, alternate text, color contrast, and document structure.
Experience evaluating ACRs/VPATs and translating findings into acquisition or remediation recommendations.
Experience with screen readers, Adobe Acrobat Pro accessibility tools, PAC or comparable PDF validation tools, and Microsoft Office accessibility checkers.
Experience coaching testers or supporting students in Trusted Tester courses and examinations.
Federal Government or DHS accessibility experience.
