Position Information

Position Title Tutor at the Academic Support Center (For Current SCC Students Only) FLSA Shift Day/Evening Supervisor Title Assistant Director of ASC Location Main Campus (Dobson) Job Description - Summary

Student worker needed to tutor various subjects in person or virtually as determined by the strengths of the applicant and needs of the Academic Support Center Staff.

  • Students must be enrolled in AT LEAST 6 credit hours to qualify for FWS Program

This is a part-time opportunity. Students may work up to 15 hours per week, depending on their unmet need on their FASFA.*

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Federal Work Study is federally funded need based aid to assist students with the cost of attending college. This listing is intended for students that will attend Surry Community College during the 2026-2027 academic year and have need determined by the federal government. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use of Microsoft Teams to provide help virtually to students in need.
  • Being able to work with multiple supervisors.

General Qualifications

  • Microsoft Office Knowledge
  • Good communication skills

Required Qualifications

Student must be able to communicate with students and support staff through various means, and be able to use Microsoft Office for various paperwork.

Computer skills

Accurate record keeping skills

  • Punctuality

  • Interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Tutor must be willing to help students in various subjects depending on their academic strengths. Applicant must be willing to initiate conversation with students that are seeking help and work with them in a positive and friendly manner.

  • Knowledge of subject area
  • Able to travel to main campus and/or Yadkin Campus.
  • Willing to work in a virtual environment.
  • Willing to follow Knights Care Guidelines

Ability to lift up to 10 pounds
