Position Title: Tutor - Japanese

Department: Modern Languages

Advertised Pay: 11.00

Campus Location: Washburn University

Position Summary:

Japanese Tutor must be full time WU student who has demonstrated strong abilities in Japanese language skills and has the ability to explain language concepts to others. Proficiency at the Advanced level (300-level) may be required, but most tutoring will be for students in the 101/102 classes. Two hours per week during Fall and Spring semesters, except for University holidays (Spring Break, etc.). Must be reliable and professional, communicate clearly, and interact well with others.

Essential Functions:
Help students develop their oral, writing, and reading in Japanese skills
Aid students with home work and exam preparation
Perform additional job duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
Must have taken Japanese language classes previously (preferably Intermediate Japanese, and/or Japanese Grammar Review) or be a native speaker
Must be a full-time student at Washburn University
Must demonstrate strong abilities in Japanese language skills
Be able to explain language concepts to others
Must be punctual and reliable
Must have great communication skills (written and oral)
