Job Title: Tutor - Part-time

Primary Location: Floresville North Elementary

Shift Type: Part-Time

Reports to: Principal

Dept.: School Floresville North Elementary

PURPOSE

The Tutor will provide small group specialized instruction for assigned individuals or small groups on a regular basis. Students will be assigned to the tutor by the campus principal or administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Certification Requirements:

High school graduate or GED equivalent or higher Teaching instructing or tutoring experience working with youth in public schools, church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day care centers, or other approved settings preferred College Degree and/or Teacher certification preferred but not required Must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check Retired professional educators may work part-time as per their TRS work schedule permits

Special Knowledge and Skills:

Demonstrate excellence in the designated subject area. Possess excellent communication and computer literacy skills. Ability to be prompt and have reliable attendance on scheduled days.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Conduct instructional activities outlined and described by campus administration. Manage learning materials and create student materials for specific lessons. Provide instruction in designated subject areas. Relate positively to children and develop respectful relationships. Keep information about children and achievement confidential. Prepare activities and reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles. Use technology to strengthen the teaching-learning process where available. Assess student progress and report to classroom teacher. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required. Perform other duties as assigned by campus administration.

MENTAL DEMANDS

Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress, may work prolonged or irregular hours.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Frequent standing, kneeling, squatting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting. Frequent walking and reaching. Lifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying 15 pounds or less. Occasional heavy lifting 45 pounds or over and positioning or students with physical disabilities assisting non-ambulatory students lifting and moving classroom equipment, including textbooks and materials.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

Frequent work inside and outside exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather. Exposure to noise. Exposure to biological hazards, bacteria, communicable diseases.
